Meet Our Staff

Rebecca Johnson

Executive Director

Rebecca was born and raised in the Lansing area. She grew up in a tennis family and most of her time was spent either watching her brothers play or playing competitively herself. She graduated from Northwestern University in 2011 and moved to St. Louis where she taught middle school special education for two years.

In 2013, she moved back to Michigan to work for Todd Martin Youth Leadership as the high school program coordinator and data consultant. After getting married in 2014, she moved to Milwaukee with her husband, Ronnie, where she completed her masters in social work at the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin. Rebecca was a school social worker at a high school on the south side of Milwaukee for the 2016-2017 school year.

Rebecca and Ronnie moved back to the Lansing area in June 2017 and were excited to welcome their first baby, Elizabeth, in September. Since then, Rebecca and Ronnie welcomed another child, Isaiah, in April 2021.


Christina Burke

Tutoring Program Director

Christina was born and raised in the Lansing area. She developed a love for tennis at a young age and enjoyed competitive tennis for many years. She was a Lansing Catholic graduate and then went on and earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum at Michigan State University. She has over 20 years of teaching experience working with students in grades K-8. She spent time teaching in Grand Rapids, Grand Ledge and Okemos.

One of the highlights of her career was coaching the girls’ varsity tennis team in Wyoming, Michigan. She loved watching her players’ growth and their passion for tennis. Christina and her husband, Bill, live in Okemos with their two children, Blake and Brooklyn. Her interests include watching tennis, playing pickleball and cheering on the Spartans. She is devoted to supporting youth and is thrilled to be able to do this through TMYL.


Soluna Fuentes

Tennis program director

Soluna was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. She grew up playing tennis in the program as a participant and then attended East Lansing High School where she also played tennis. She is an East Lansing graduate and is currently studying Kinesiology at Lansing Community College. Soluna has grown from a participant to a junior coach to tennis coordinator and is now the tennis director. She has a dog named Zola and has 3 siblings. She is always active outside of her job and enjoys listening to music and reading books.


Jared Guy

Assistant Tennis Program Director

Jared grew up in Portland and went to Portland High School. Afterwards, he continued his tennis career at Alma College where he got his degree in psychology and graduated in 2016. He then coached at Alma for 7 years and is now the Head Pro of Junior Tennis at the Michigan Athletic Club. As someone who picked up tennis kind of late and couldn't afford to do lessons and tournaments, he said he would have loved to have all the opportunities Todd Martin can offer. So working for TMYL and being able to spread tennis and hopefully get more kids into tennis is something he says he is truly grateful for.


david leek

Riddle after school program coordinator

David is a 3rd grade teacher at Pattengill Elementary School. Prior to Pattengill, he taught 2nd and 3rd grade at Willow Elementary. He is an integral part of TMYL’s Riddle After School Program, and the kids can’t get enough of him!


Tennis & Leadership Instructors

Stella Alfredson

Stella is a student at the University of Michigan planning to study Environmental Biology. She enjoys outdoor activities, tennis, and staying active, and brings that energy into her work with participants.


Bodhi Alwin

Bodhi is a rising senior at East Lansing High School. He's set on helping young people grow into confident, kind, and capable leaders in their future. As a TMYL coach, he focuses on building strong sets of relationships, encouraging growth mindsets, and creating a safe space for others.


Nathan baldwin

Nathan earned his degree in Social Studies Education from Michigan State University and works as a high school teacher. He combines his classroom experience with coaching to create a structured and supportive learning environment on the court.


EmmaMae Baker

EmmaMae is a student at MSU studying Art Education. She has been involved with TMYL for many years as a participant and now stays connected to the program through coaching. Outside of tennis she likes to paint, go on nature walks, and read.


Christopher Bon

Christopher studies Kinesiology at Lansing Community College and is interested in becoming a personal trainer. He has a strong interest in physical activity and enjoys helping others stay active through sports like tennis.


Jamy Brooks

Jamy has been coaching tennis for 6 years, and has been coaching with TMYL for the last year. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics-Secondary Education and she will be student teaching high school math in the metro Detroit area in the 25-26 school year. She played on the Michigan State Club tennis team all four years, where she served as the Travel Vice President.


Alyssa Cosio

Alyssa is from the East Lansing.  She is currently a student at Michigan State studying Nutritional Science with a minor in Spanish. Tennis has been a part of her life for a long time (shoutout Haslett tennis!), and is excited to share her love for the sport with others. In her free time, Alyssa loves to go on walks, do yoga, cook and try new foods, and of course spend time with her friends on a MSU game day…Go Green!


Katie Denzin

Katie works in education and is pursuing a Master’s in Data Science at Michigan State University. She has a long-standing connection to tennis and is interested in youth development and educational programming.


Michelle Dorshimer

Michelle is a graduate of Ferris State University with a degree in Business Administration and Human Resources. She joined TMYL after college and has continued to stay involved, contributing to the program’s work serving youth in the Lansing community.


Joshua Fraiberg

Joshua is a student at Okemos High School who is actively involved in tennis and fitness. He enjoys spending time on the court and helping younger players gain confidence as they learn the game.


Gerrit Garcia

Gerrit studies Political Science and Criminal Justice at Michigan State University. He enjoys tennis, basketball, and film, and values opportunities to introduce new players to the sport.


jd hawthorne

Jonathan studies Engineering at the University of Michigan and enjoys staying active through tennis and other sports. He has been involved in tennis from a young age and continues to stay engaged through coaching.


Destiny Hernandez

Destiny grew up in Lansing, where she attended Lansing Everett High School. Her passion in engineering led her to pursue studies at both Michigan State University and Western Michigan University. She currently works in education as a substitute teacher, and is interested in supporting students through both academic and athletic experiences.


Parker Hughes

Parker is a high school student who is exploring future interests in psychology or aviation. He enjoys working with younger players and gaining experience through coaching.


miles johnston

Miles is currently going into his senior year and attends East Lansing High School. Other than tennis, his favorite hobbies include hanging out with friends and reading.


Jonny Kalt

Jonny is a student at the University of Michigan studying Chemical Engineering. He was first introduced to tennis through TMYL and now enjoys helping others learn and develop their skills. His favorite hobbies are playing tennis, video games, and hanging out with friends.


Eleanna Kimbouris

Eleanna attends East Lansing High School and has participated in TMYL programming for many years. She played doubles on her high school varsity team her sophomore year. She now stays involved by helping coach and support younger participants, and also enjoys playing soccer and hanging out with her friends.


Zachary Kleinerman

Zachary has a degree in Economics and plans to pursue law school. He enjoys recreational sports like tennis, golf, and pickleball and bring a broad athletic perspective to coaching.


Evie Laxton

Evie is a student at East Lansing High School and grew up participating in TMYL programs. She remains active in tennis and enjoys staying involved by working with younger players.


JOHN LAXTON

John is a Psychology student at Alma College who has been involved with TMYL since he was young. His long connection to the program shapes his approach to coaching and working with participants.


isaac lindo

Isaac studies General Business at Lansing Community College and is interested in working in athletics or club operations. He enjoys playing tennis and helping others improve their skills through consistent practice.


Jacob McNew

Jacob is a Psychology student at Alma College with an interest in social work. He enjoys tennis and sees coaching as a way to connect with and support younger athletes.  His hobbies include playing tennis, watching sports, and hanging with friends.


jayden miller

Jayden is a student at Adrian College studying Exercise Science. He is interested in health and fitness and enjoys being part of a program that connects athletics with community engagement.


lucas preston

Lucas plays tennis at Kalamazoo College, currently pursuing a major in Religion. He’s coached and played tennis for years, and is extremely passionate about helping others grow on and off the court. Outside of tennis, Lucas enjoys the outdoors, staying active , listening to music, healthy eating, and learning new things.


Jabria Riddle

Jabria holds a degree in Social Work from Capella University. Her background in youth support and community work helps her approach to working with participants in the program.


Haytham sandu

Haytham is a senior at Holt High School. Some of his favorite hobbies are hanging out with friends and playing tennis. His favorite part of TMYL is the summer program because of all the amazing people you get to meet.


Connor Scofield

Connor is a student at Waverly High School who enjoys tennis and staying active. As a coach, he focuses on a work hard play hard mindset and is looking to inspire kids to be the person they want to be.


Ben Smedley

Ben has been part of TMYL’s tennis programs for the past three years and is excited to jump into my new role as a Junior Coach this summer. He’s a senior at Eastern High School in Lansing, where he’s been the tennis team captain for the past two years. Ben loves helping younger players get better at the game and wants to share his passion for tennis. His goal is to help everyone improve and have a great time on the court!


William Taylor

Will is a student at Grand Valley State University studying Elementary Education. He is interested in becoming a social studies teacher and enjoys combining his interest in education with his background in tennis.


Jay turner

Jay is a high school student with an interest in music and creative outlets. He enjoys working with younger players and introducing them to the basics of tennis in a simple and approachable way.


rafe turner

Rafe attends East Lansing High School and enjoys exploring new hobbies and activities. He was drawn to coaching as a way to stay involved in tennis while trying something new.


Pierson Wells

Pierson is a student at Michigan State University studying game design and interactive media. In high school he played first and second singles for the Lansing Christian Boys tennis team. Other than video games and tennis, Pierson loves the outdoors, scuba diving, and both reading and writing. 


Austin Wilson

Austin has a degree in Kinesiology and has a background in fitness and athletics. He enjoys staying active and applying his knowledge of movement to help players build strong fundamentals in tennis.


charisse wolfe

Charisse attends Waverly High School and is interested in graphic design and marketing. She enjoys both creative work and tennis and likes being part of a program where she can share that interest with others.


Steve Wolff

Steve is a Social Studies Teacher at East Lansing High School.  He has coached high school boys and girls tennis teams at both the JV and Varsity level (and is currently the JV Girls Tennis coach at ELHS). As a kid, Steve went to TMYL and has made many lifelong friendships through the program.  His favorite part of TMYL is coaching with some of the former participants.  He has worked at TMYL since 2008 and looks forward to another great summer!

executive assistant

Erin was born and raised in the Lansing area. She graduated from Cornerstone University in 2011 with a degree in Media Studies and Film Production, emphasizing in writing and producing. After living in Los Angeles and interning at Paramount Studies, it became clear the Hollywood life was not for her. In the summer of 2021, Erin joined the TMYL team as the executive assistant. She is excited to give back to the community she grew up in and watch the students of Lansing thrive with TMYL’s support!

Brooke Quisenberry

Data & Evaluation Specialist

Brooke grew up in the Lansing area. She graduated from Hope College in 2010, worked for the Michigan House of Representatives and did graduate work at Michigan State University in the College of Education in Measurement and Quantitative Methods, while also doing research consulting.

In 2017, she started working for Todd Martin Youth Leadership, performing various administrative tasks (including using her data skills!) for the other staff members. She is so thankful to have the opportunity to work with such a fantastic organization and with remarkable people, including staff, volunteers, and board members!
